Location: Cornwall and Alexandria, Ontario (Remote)
Time Commitment: Approximately 1 hour per month, with some flexibility as Board needs evolve over time
Term: 1 year term
Compensation: Volunteer (Unpaid)

Board Member Role
The Board of Directors is responsible for the governance and overall stewardship of Young Achievers Daycare. Board members work collaboratively to ensure the organization operates in compliance with Ontario legislation, maintains financial accountability, and advances its mission in a sustainable and ethical manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Act in accordance with the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) and the organization’s bylaws
- Support the mission, vision, and strategic direction of Young Achievers Daycare
- Participate in board meetings and committee work
- Provide oversight of financial management, risk, and organizational policies
- Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and applicable Ministry of Education requirements
- Hire, support, and evaluate the Executive Director/Designate (as applicable)
- Act as an ambassador for the organization within the community
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all Board discussions, records, and sensitive organizational, staff, child, and family information
Qualifications & Experience
We welcome applicants with a variety of skills and lived experiences. Experience in any of the following areas is considered an asset, though not required:
- Early childhood education or licensed childcare
- Nonprofit governance or board experience
- Finance, accounting, or legal knowledge
- Human resources, labour relations, or policy development
- Community engagement, advocacy, or fundraising
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and willing to complete any required onboarding, training, or compliance documentation.
