The Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts (BMFA) is a registered charitable organization recognized as the visual arts hub for South Georgian Bay. For over five decades, BMFA has championed artists and fostered community engagement through exhibitions, juried shows, workshops, artist talks, and other initiatives. The foundation operates a community gallery located in downtown Collingwood, Ontario, serving as a vibrant space to celebrate and support the arts. BMFA is committed to enriching the community by promoting creativity and artistic expression.
Role Description
The Chair of the Board, a volunteer position, will oversee the operations and strategic direction of the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts. As a member-led organization, the Chair together with the Board have an active role in managing the organization. The Chair holds a pivotal position in guiding the organization's direction, supporting board effectiveness and ensuring strong oversight of strategy, finances, programs and community relationships.
The Chair will engage with community stakeholders, members, partners and donors, and represent the BMFA in public and professional settings.
Qualifications
- Experience serving on nonprofit or charity boards
- Strong leadership, organizational governance, and decision-making skills
- Experience in strategic planning, team management, and policy development
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and public relations abilities
- Passion for the arts and a strong commitment to community engagement
- Experience in fundraising, nonprofit management, or event planning is a plus
