Youth Non-Profit Leadership Training

Organization: Various Canadian Environmental Nonprofit Organizations

Location: Ontario, Atlantic & Northern Regions in Canada

Time Commitment for Training: 20-70 hours between March - July 2025

Overall Commitment: In addition to the training time, you will be asked to commit roughly 20 hours/month for at least three months between March and July 2025 to volunteer for a local environmental non-profit.

Training Overview

Condensed Version

Ideal for part-time employees or volunteers with limited time.

  • Total time: 20 hours
  • 2-3 hour orientation
  • Minimum 3 hours of mentorship meetings

Mentorship Opportunities

You’ll be paired with a youth mentor who will provide ongoing coaching, support, and feedback throughout your placement. Mentors will help you succeed and apply your new skills to real-world challenges.

Hands-On Climate Action

As part of the Youth Support Program (YSP), youth participants will lead community climate projects to tackle local environmental challenges. This hands-on experience allows you to plan, implement, and evaluate real climate action initiatives in your community.

Through these projects, you will

  • Develop project proposals and secure necessary resources
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders and volunteers
  • Document your process, assess your project's impact, and share your findings through written reports and evaluation surveys.

This experience ensures you’ll contribute to your community and gain practical environmental project management and sustainability skills.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ages 18-30
  • Reside in Ontario, Atlantic, Maritime, or Northern Regions of Canada
  • Available to complete a project between February and July 2025
