Hours: Full-Time (35-40 hrs/week)
Location: Hybrid (in-office in Mississauga, ON at least 2-3 days per week)

The Fundraising & Communications Assistant (FCA) works full-time and provides support to the fund
development and communications departments. Reporting collaboratively to the Fund Development
Associate and the Events & Communications Manager, the FCA performs a variety of both
administrative and creative tasks related to fundraising, donor stewardship, charity events, and online
and offline communications.
Duties include but are not limited to
DONOR RELATIONS
- Maintaining and updating accurate donor records in the fundraising database
- Tracking donations and generating donor acknowledgements
- Supporting the development of donor communications, including newsletters, email
communications and appeal letters
- Assisting with donor cultivation and stewardship activities, including making phone calls
GRANT WRITING SUPPORT
- Researching potential grant opportunities aligned with the organization's mission
- Assisting in compiling information for grant proposals and reports
EVENT SUPPORT
- Assisting with the planning and execution of fundraising, stewardship, volunteer and
program-related events
- Coordinating event logistics, including venue, vendors, and volunteers
- Supporting event promotion and stakeholder engagement
CONTENT CREATION
- Assisting with drafting and editing various communication materials, including website
content, social media posts, newsletters, press releases, and other publications

- Maintaining and updating website and promotional content, ensuring information is accurate
and current
COMMUNICATIONS
- Managing social media platforms, creating engaging content, and interacting with followers
- Helping to build relationships with media outlets and pitching stories to promote Start2Finish
- Tracking and analyzing communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and
strategies
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
- Providing general administrative support to the fund development and communications team
- Scheduling meetings and preparing meeting materials
- Managing fundraising materials and supplies
- Supporting the tracking and reporting of fundraising metrics
The ideal candidate will have the following
- Capable learner who is teachable, adaptable, and works well collaboratively
- Demonstrates comfort and clarity with both verbal and written English communication skills—
including pronunciation, spelling, and grammar
- Organized and detail-oriented, especially with administrative tasks and managing databases
- Comfortable using cloud-based technology and project management tools (e.g., Google Suite,
Canva, Monday.com)
- Works well under pressure and adapts quickly to shifting project timelines and goals
- Flexible and communicative, able to adapt to the team’s needs and dynamics
- Team-player with a servant attitude to help others and the organization succeed
- Takes initiative and works independently, while asking appropriate questions and staying in
communication with team members to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently
- Able to prioritize tasks and identify next steps
- Has an eye for design and a creative mindset that brings new ideas and thinks outside the box
- Has a basic working knowledge of social media platforms
- Social media marketing experience is an asset
- Basic content-making experience is an asset
- Donor relations experience is an asset
- Must have valid driver's license and access to own vehicle
- Able to work the occasional evening and weekend for special events
