About us
We are looking for a Treasurer to join our Board!
Second Stage Dance is a Registered Canadian Charity dedicated to increasing sustainability,
affordability and diversity in the dance sector. Our mission is to provide financial support for dancers
in need alongside provide them with the items they need to reduce costs to participation.
Currently, we are looking for passionate, committed volunteers looking to support our mission as we
grow! This is a wonderful opportunity to gain experience and evolve alongside an innovative
organization.
As our Treasurer, you will have a vital role in ensuring the financial success of our organization.
You will oversee our financial reporting, along with developing strategic financial plans to
support our mission. We are looking for someone who is currently working towards their CPA or
has previous experience in the financial sector.
The Key Responsibilities Include
Monitor the organization’s financial position and ensure proper records are maintained in
accordance with CRA requirements for registered charities.
Review and present quarterly financial statements to the Board
Ensure and financial policies are in place and followed by team members
Oversee donation receipting processes, including periodic review of in-kind donation
receipts (administrative preparation may be delegated to staff/volunteers)
Support the development of the annual budget in collaboration with staff/board
Liaise with accountants, bookkeepers, or auditors as required
We’re Looking For Someone Who Meets These Requirements:
Passionate about accessibility, sustainability and making an impact in the dance sector
CPA designation (preferred), OR equivalent experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance,
or nonprofit financial management.
Knowledge of CRA charity compliance, financial reporting, and nonprofit governance
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
This is a volunteer leadership role and we will be needing commitment for a 1.5 year term until
December 2026.
