The Awāsisak Ka-Sīhtoskāhcihk Child Advocacy Centre (ASK) is an emerging non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for children and youth who have experienced abuse. Our mission is to offer a multidisciplinary approach to support children, youth and families as they navigate through investigation, intervention, and treatment, while working in collaboration with law enforcement, child protection services, medical professionals, and mental health professionals.
Position Overview
ASK Child Advocacy Centre is seeking a passionate and results-driven full time 6- month Director of Fundraising and Community Development, with expectation to transition to full time permanent in Fall 2025, to lead and expand our philanthropic initiatives and community engagement efforts. As a key member of the leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that strengthen ASK CAC financial sustainability while building strong relationships with donors, partners, and the broader community.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be an expert in communication skills and a keen sense of initiative to spot fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with potential donors, and manage fundraising campaigns. By coordinating events, writing proposals, and recruiting and leading volunteers, the fundraiser will hone speaking, writing, and leadership abilities while moving ASK CAC closer to its goals.
Fundraising and Community Development (70% focused)
- Develop, implement, and manage community development strategies that relate to the development plan to meet programs and services financial goals.
- Identify current needs (programs, services, operating budgets and capital needs) as well as major gift contributions to secure long range sustainability
- Lead development strategy and activities, including grant applications, fundraising events and other initiatives.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with current and prospective major donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
- Research and identify potential major donors, including individuals, corporate philanthropic entities, and foundations, utilizing various research tools and techniques.
- Prepare compelling written materials, including proposals, grant applications, case statements, and impact reports.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and communication logs in the donor database, tracking interactions, commitments, and stewardship activities.
- Management and coordination of Community Development team in day to day activities including fundraising initiatives, annual giving, planned giving, third parties events and special events.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to the organization's mission, values, and goals, serving as an ambassador and spokesperson for the organization in interactions with major donors and the broader community.
Communications (30% focused)
- Lead and manage communications strategies to achieve departmental goals.
- Oversee the creation and distribution of compelling content across various channels, including digital platforms, social media, print materials, and traditional media outlets.
- Ensure brand consistency and messaging coherence across all communications materials and platforms.
- Collaborate with internal staff and stakeholders to identify communication needs and priorities.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the communications and marketing team, promoting professional growth and development opportunities.
- Uphold and enforce ethical standards and compliance requirements in all communications and marketing activities, adhering to relevant laws, regulations, and industry guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Proven track record of success in fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement with at least five years of experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing fundraising events and campaigns.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data and trends to inform decision-making.
- Familiarity with donor management software and CRM systems
- Experience in writing grant proposals, press releases, and fundraising letters.
- Commitment to ASK CAC mission, values, and community impact.
- Willing to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with your own.
- Demonstrate a commitment to enhancing your own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Salary Range: $52,000- $59,000 (7-month contract)
This role is expected to transition to a full-time permanent position in Fall 2025, with a salary range of $89,000 - $101,000 while offering additional growth and leadership opportunities.
