Salary range
: $24-26 an hour, up to 32 hours a week, with a minimum of 20 hours required per week.

The Women’s Safe House is the oldest and largest provider of emergency services to women and children experiencing domestic violence. We also work with women and families experiencing sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking. The Women’s Safe House is a 24-hour facility. We are an active member of the State of Missouri and National Coalitions Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.
The Women’s Safe House seeks a seasoned part-time Grant Writer. This is a Part-Time position with at least 20 hours of scheduled work. In months with multiple grants due, 32 hours per week might be expected. Remote work is available on occasion, but onsite collaboration is required for grant-related meetings and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full grant cycle of the grant writing process, including preparation, application development and writing, budget coordination with the Director of Finance and the Director of Grants Management and Data Services, timeline management, submission, and post-decision/award feedback for federal/state/local government grants.
- Research, identify, and prospect new government funding opportunities.
- Maintain databases and files for recording and tracking grant proposals, awards, calendars, and deadlines
- Analyze and understand agency needs and align them with funding priorities
- Work in a team environment collaboratively on the grant process with multiple stakeholders, including external partners.
- Interpret and execute complex grant application instructions.
- Generate reports to meet agency and grantor requirements.
- In slower grant writing months, assist the Director of Grants Management and Data Services with data, reporting, and invoicing as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Non-Profit Administration/Public Administration or a related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of direct grant writing experience required, including managing multiple monthly government grant proposals under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local government funding sources (e.g. VOCA, CSF, MHTF, RRH, SSVF, Affordable Housing).
- Demonstrated success securing competitive government grants, including VOCA, CSF, MHTF, RRH, SSVF, Affordable Housing.
- Advanced written communication and proposal development skills; ability to submit strong, professional email communications with potential partners.
- Highly developed organizational and time management abilities, capable of setting priorities under frequent deadline pressure.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for federal, state, and local government grants.
- Competency in budget preparation and financial documentation for grant compliance.
- Proficiency in grants portals (ex., Grants.gov, Just Grants.gov, webgrants.gov, ) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Adobe).
- Willingness to lead or co-lead monthly or bi-monthly grant review meetings.

- Desire to be a team player; willingness to help out in other areas as needed
- Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals; strong editing and computer skills are a requirement.
- Strong organizational and time management is needed.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to details is necessary.
- Must adhere to TWSH policies, procedures and standards including, but not limited to, confidentiality assisting victims of crime and similar practices.
- A deep appreciation and understanding of the issues of trauma and domestic violence.
- Open to scheduling flexibility
- Willingness and ability to convey warmth, compassion, respect and non-judgment to people experiencing domestic violence.
- Ability to adhere to safety policies, procedures and practices including, but not limited to wearing rubber sole shoes when lifting and carrying items.
- Must have own reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
