Director of Philanthropy - Volunteer
Help Heal Humanity
Company Description
Help Heal Humanity (HHH) is a volunteer-based and internationally registered non-profit organization providing the world’s most vulnerable populations with access to education, nutrition, community support, and love. Our mission is rooted in compassion, integrity, and service — proving that even in the darkest times, humanity can rise above.
Role Description
Location: Hamilton/Toronto (hybrid)
Commitment: 5 hours per week
Type: Volunteer Leadership Role
As Director of Philanthropy, you will bring our existing fundraising and donor strategy to life, driving it into meaningful action. Working directly with the CEO and Board, you will ensure that HHH’s student sponsorships, donor relations, and partnership opportunities grow and thrive.
This is a volunteer leadership role — ideal for someone who wants to use their expertise in fundraising and philanthropy to make a tangible, lasting impact on the lives of children and families in Haiti and in local communities in Hamilton/Toronto.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute HHH’s Fundraising Strategy: Take the strategy already in place and translate it into action with clear goals and deliverables.
- Donor Engagement & Stewardship: Build strong, authentic relationships with individual donors, student sponsors, and corporate partners — ensuring they feel valued and connected to HHH’s mission.
- Partnership Growth: Help cultivate corporate and community partnerships that align with HHH’s values and programs.
- Campaign Support: Collaborate on signature campaigns (e.g., Back to School Student Sponsorships, Stand With Haiti, Community Hours in Hamilton).
- Board & CEO Collaboration: Provide insight, feedback, and energy to ensure our fundraising efforts are efficient, professional, and heart-led.
- Mentorship: Support and inspire junior volunteers in donor communications and fundraising initiatives.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or nonprofit development.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- A hands-on, proactive approach: you can turn a plan into actionable steps.
- Passion for humanitarian work, education, and social justice.
- Integrity, empathy, and a collaborative spirit.
Time Commitment & Support
- ~5 hours per week (flexible, with occasional meetings).
- Hybrid role — some in-person presence in Hamilton/Toronto for events but much of the work can be remote.
- You will be supported by the CEO, Board, and a dedicated volunteer team.
This role offers the opportunity to
- Directly impact lives: Every dollar raised means a child gets an education, a meal, a safe community.
- Shape HHH’s future: You’ll play a key role in ensuring the sustainability of our programs.
- Grow your legacy: Apply your skills and network to leave a lasting impact through philanthropy, education, and healing.
- Lead with purpose: Join a passionate, mindful team committed to helping heal humanity — one student, one family, one community at a time.
