Position: Part-Time Accountant

Location: Moncton, NB (Remote work; must live in Moncton NB)

Hours: Monday through Friday; Flexible Scheduling.

Salary: $25.00-$35.00 per hour(based on experience)

South East Adult Education is a government-funded non-profit organization based in Moncton, NB. We are dedicated to helping adults in southeastern New Brunswick, aged 18 and older, achieve their high school equivalency. Our free classes prepare individuals to challenge the CAEC high school equivalency exams and improve their computer skills, empowering them to build a brighter future.

We’re looking for a part-time accountant to join our team! This role offers the flexibility to work from home, with occasional in-person meetings at our office on Norwood Avenue in Moncton, NB. Working hours are flexible from Monday to Friday, allowing for a great work-life balance. Plus, we provide a computer, software, and all necessary supplies to set you up for success. Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate financial records using the accrual method of accounting.
Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, and reports.
Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing.
Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow.
Assist with grant reporting and compliance requirements.
Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
Support annual audits and tax filings (e.g., financial data preparation).
Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards and regulations.

Qualifications & Skills

Accounting degree or relevant certification (CPA preferred but not required).
Experience in non-profit accounting and the accrual method.
Proficiency in Sage or other accounting software.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6 – 8 per week
